The product itself is crippled by the lack of supporting software. It does not work on "TomTom HOME" software, but on the new and as yet incomplete "MyTomTom" software, that is only available while online (internet connection).

Without proper software this product is inferior to the "TomTom HOME" based devices.

That being said, the traffic updates work very well, and the Google search is a lifesaver for the African maps.

This is the best GPS of the 2011.

The TomTom is not a GPS, it is a time saving tool which I use all the time, it should be compulsory in every car.

HD Traffic is a tool for everyone. The TomTom GO1000 connects to my cell phone through bluetooth, and received live traffic reports, which is displayed as "minutes delayed" on route.

The GPS will re-route if an alternative route will save time around the congestion. The system is not perfect, but it is excellent and it gives a rough estimation of delays and the exact location of the problem.

The amount of bandwidth it uses is very little.

Not only does it do this, it also selects the best route for the time of day, for example, around schools when the pupils come out.
