What to expect from using an AVR: If the electricity dips or surges, it can lead to inferior performance or damage to your electrical equipment.
Voltage instability and fluctuations will cause temporary and permanent failure of the load; these dips and surges reduce the life-span quite dramatically of home and business equipment and appliances. What is a dip or surge? Dips are when the voltage lowers and surges are when the voltage is higher than normal. Voltage stabilisers are there to safeguard your appliances and devices against power instability and maintain a stable voltage supply. Will a power stabilizer keep the power on? No, the AVR is there to smooth the voltage from spikes, surges and noise in the voltage. To keep power on, a UPS, Inverter or generator is the correct product. How to smooth the voltage from a generator? Generators tend to dip and can be hugely unstable, and the AVR will stabilize the voltage. The AVR rating must be higher than the equipment's power draw. AVR is rated in VA and not Watts. 1000VA will work with devices rated at 600W* *The industry standard rule-of-thumb: plan for a power factor of 60% (this is an average conservative power factor).
