CCTV power supplies offer stable power to analogue CCTV cameras. CCTV power supplies are manufactured to protect separate cameras from a single failure or surge, and may include over current protection, "Over-voltage" output protection, Short circuit protection, surge protection and fuses. Standard CCTV cameras voltage is 12Volts. Some CCTV cameras require 24Volts. Several CCTV power supply enclosures includes a space for a battery to provide power during power failures. How much power is needed for a CCTV camera? Different cameras draws different power, but they usually need far less than 12Watts (1Amp @ 12Volts), even with IR enabled. The type of cable and the distance between your power supply and the camera affects the reliability of the power to the camera. The thinner the cable and the longer the distance - the more likely the camera will not receive enough power to switch it on. 12V cameras with a tolerance of 10% (12V+-10%) will work on voltages as low as 10.8Volts and as high as 13.2V. Cables laid outside, exposed to the rain and sun, will deteriorate and rust quickly, and the cable will need replacing after a while. To prolong the lifespan of the cables, they need to be laid inside trunking or pipes. Hiding cables inside the space of ceiling, under roof tiles will also protect the cable from the elements. However, the cables are not protected against rodents, birds or insects if they are not put inside trunking. Products to display on a page : 10 | |||||
