How does your free fax to email service work?

• You receive an 086 number which allows people to send you faxes.
• People dial your free 086 fax number and transmit their faxes to you in the normal way, using a normal fax machine.
• You receive the fax in your email box within a few minutes as an image file.

Is it really free?

It is a 100% free service for the receiver.

The 086 fax to email number is a value added service number and the person who is sending you the fax pays Telkom's premium fax 2 email rates.

The person who is sending you the fax gets charged a set rate per minute. The cost to send a fax is set by Telkom, and the rates are avaialble from Telkom (www.telkom.co.za - search for Fax 2 Email 0865/6 per minute)


Who operates the fax 2 email service?

The lines are provided by Telkom, the service is not provided by Telkom and is provided by companies who run powerful servers.

Many different companies operate the free fax to email services.

Faxes are received and processed by very powerful servers, which receive the faxes, processes them and sends them as images to the various email addresses.

We do not charge any setup or monthly fees. Some companies charge a monthly fee and others charge a setup fee.

Can I select my own number?

You cannot select your own number as our service is fully automated and activates immediately.

You may select as many numbers as you need, such as one for private use and one for business use, however, if you do not use a fax to email number for several months, it will be removed automatically.

Can I use the fax2email service to receive International faxes?

Yes, you are will be able to receive International faxes.

Some countries block 086 numbers, and some International users will not be able to send you faxes in this way, you will need a normal land-line fax machine to receive faxes from certain International countries.
